Thru Feb. 4 Irene Rosenzweig 2011 Biennial Exhibition - This juried art show has a long history with the Arts and Science Center, 701 Main Street in Pine Bluff, and many prize-winning artworks from past exhibitions are now part of the center's permanent collection. Entries from residents of Arkansas and six surrounding states were accepted for this year's show, and this year's judge was David Bailin of Little Rock. For more information, call 870-536-3375.

Jan 9 & 16 Beginning Drawing Class - The Pine Bluff Art League will sponsor a two-day beginning drawing class from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the league studio at the Donald W. Jan 19 Greek Cooking - Mary Amann, an army wife born in Greece and now an Arkansas transplant, will be the instructor for this class set to offer plenty of culinary tips for anyone from the gyro guru to the most ardent feta fan. Part of a four-week cooking and entertaining course, this class is offered by the Arts and Science Center, 701 Main Street, and will be held from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. Cost is $25 for center members and $30 for non-members. Feb 3 Live @ 5 - The Arts & Science Center, 701 Main Street, kicks off its popular "first Friday" live music series for 2012 with The Blue Thirds from 5-7 p.m. Cost of Live@5 evening is $5 for center members and $10 for non-members and includes light refreshments. This year, the center is also offering season tickets (February through November) to Live: $40 for members and $75 for non-members, which includes a one-year membership. Feb 10 A Taste of the Wildlife - This "wildly" fun evening of pure revelry benefitting the Arts and Science Center of Southeast Arkansas, 701 Main Street in Pine Bluff, returns this year to the Pine Bluff Country Club at 7 p.m. Wild game prepared by Pine Bluff's own Chef Jamie McAfee will be served. Feb 11 24th Annual Jefferson County Home and Garden Seminar Show - The Jefferson County Cooperative Extension Service, Jefferson County Master Gardeners, and Pine Bluff/Jefferson County Clean and Beautiful Commission co-sponsor this event from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Pine Bluff Convention Center. The 2012 show includes a variety of informative speakers and workshops, scores of booths, children's activities, concessions, plus lots of door prizes. Admission is free. Feb 16 The Arkansas Traveler - The Arts and Science Center for Southeast Arkansas, 701 Main Street in Pine Bluff, will host a presentation for school children by the Arkansas Arts Center of the play, "The Arkansas Traveler" at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. The play is based on the popular song of the same name written by Col. Sanford Faulkner in the 1850s. Student tickets are $5, and teachers should call the center at 870-536-3375 to schedule their schools.
Feb 16-19 2011-2012 Lost & Found Season -The fourth year of theatre's homecoming to the UAPB Campus includes the children's show "Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters" in the Hathaway-Howard Fine Arts Center on campus. Times are 7:30 each evening, with 3 p.m. matinees on Saturday and Sunday. Feb 18 Black Tie Benefit for the Arts - The University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff will host its 25th anniversary Chancellor's Benefit for the Arts, an annual black tie gala, at the Pine Bluff Convention Center. This year's theme is "Reflections in Silver." A cocktail reception and silent auction begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by a gourmet meal with live entertainment provided by UAPB Jazz Ensemble. Feb 25 St. Jude's Bunco Benefit - Sigma Nu Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Aplha International will host its 3rd Annual Bunco Benefit for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital from 3 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the Pine Bluff Country Club. Mar 1 Book Signing - Pine Bluff native Allyson Lewis, now a well-known financial advisor at a major New York brokerage firm and who has appeared on national television and radio programs, will be signing copies of her book, "The Seven Minute Solution," at the Arts and Science Center, 701 Main Street, in Pine Bluff from 4 to 6 p.m. as part of the annual Art Krewe gathering. Mar 31 15th Annual Bill Sanders-Bo Piper Memorial Benefit Bass Tournament - This annual event benefits Pine Bluff-based Area Agency on Aging of Southeast Arkansas, which operates program for the elderly in ten counties. The event will be held on the Arkansas River at Pine Bluff's Regional Park from safe light until 3 p.m. Entry fee is $110 per team and includes two tickets to King Kat Fish Fry and beverages immediately following weigh-in. Apr 14 17th Annual Railroadiana Show & Sale - Great family fun activities will take place at the Arkansas Railroad Museum, 1700 Port Road in Pine Bluff, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. This popular show, recognized as the largest exhibition of railroad-related items in Arkansas, features memorabilia, working modular layouts by model railroad clubs, and accessories.
